AA Beginners Class: Mike takes a group all the way through the steps over a period of four weeks.
Based on AA beginners classes popular in the 1940s that were conducted by different groups of AA. I was a little fascinated by this bit of AA history I knew nothing about. I did a little research and have reprinted a lengthy article about the beginner classes on the SoberCast.com website.
There are a number of questions asked during the workshop that are impossible to hear, but the answers make most of the questions fairly clear. Recorded in 2009, this workshop is 4 hrs long. Repost from 2017

Dewey S from San Mateo CA at the 12th Michigan state conference, he is one of first 100 members of AA (sober in 1939) speaking in 1964, he was sober 25 years at the time of this speak. Great quality for a 1964 recording.

Dr Paul O. of Laguna Niguel Ca was the author of the story in the big book titled Doctor, Alcoholic, Addict. He became sober in 1967 and this speak is from 1993. NSFW

Sybil C from Los Angeles CA telling her story in Sparks Nevada in 1991 at 50 years sober, at the time she was the longest time sober women in AA and as a very early member she was well acquainted with earliest members of AA. She also had a great sense of humor.

Geraldine D was an early member of AA sober in 1947, she knew Bill W and the majority of the earliest members of AA. Gerry is telling her story at 42 years sober and 82 years old at the 14th Rogue Roundup held Grants Pass Oregon in 1989. She is one of my favorite early member speakers and this is a great quality recording for 1989.

This sounds a bit fuzzy for the first 4 min then it clears right up. This one is a bit of AA history and a bit of nostalgia for your podcaster since I was at this meeting. In 1995 AA held its 60th Anniversary Conference in San Diego California with 56,000 people in attendance.
The theme for the convention was A.A. Everywhere – Anywhere. It was the very first time many Eastern European countries had been able to attend an international AA event including Russia. This meeting features members speaking about their first encounter with AA and the founding of AA in multiple Eastern Europe countries and in Russia.

If you are even slightly interested in learning more about Bill and Lois and AAs creation I really recommend giving this a listen.
An excellent presentation by the executive director of Stepping Stones about Bill & Lois and the AA Way of Life, at the 1st Annual Jersey Shore Roundup, NJ. Recordings of both Bill and Lois are part of the presentation and there is about 2 min of Bill playing his violin. Stepping Stones foundation was founded by Lois as a way to pass on their home and its contents to the future, it has been a historic landmark since 2012. http://www.steppingstones.org

Debbie D from Downey CA was sober for 31 years at the time she led this workshop on the topic of the 12 Concepts in Oct of 2007. This runs just about 90 min, and I do not know what group hosted this workshop.
