Sober Cast: An (unofficial) Alcoholics Anonymous Podcast AA

I originally posted this series in 2017, after 3,400 Sober Cast episodes I am a bit better at audio cleanup, so I have gone back through and reworked the files a bit to improve the quality.  This is about the best copy you will be able to find. Part 2 of 6. 

Chuck C. was born in 1902, and got sober in A.A. in January 1946.

In these 1975 recordings of Chuck C. at the Pala Mesa Men's Retreat, Chuck shares his experience, strength and hope about recovering from alcoholism. He tells how he recovered from being a "tongue-chewing, babbling idiot drunk".

The Pala Mesa Men's Retreat had 64 AA men attending, these recording were made by one of these men on a small tape recorder, and the recording quality isnt fantastic but it is listenable.

Tom I telling his story at the North Coast Roundup held in Seaside Oregon 

Tom has long been a highly regarded speaker in AA. The podcast will be featuring  "Tom Tuesday" until we run through his library. 

 

Tom I became sober at the age of 28, attending an AA meeting in a maximum-security prison. He had been sentenced there after he killed two teenagers during a blackout. Upon his release he dedicated his life to carrying the message of recovery to other inmates. He was the first former prisoner hired to work within the prison system. His journey eventually took him from prisoner to warden. Tom was sober over 65 years at the time of his passing in 2022.
