Sober Cast: An (unofficial) Alcoholics Anonymous Podcast AA

The second episode of Sober Cast was the start of this 6 part series, I thought it was time for a repost.

Chuck C. was born in 1902, and got sober in A.A. in January 1946.

In these 1975 original recordings of Chuck C. at the Pala Mesa Men's Retreat, Chuck shares his experience, strength and hope about recovering from alcoholism. He tells how he recovered from a "tongue-chewing, babbling idiot drunk".

The Pala Mesa Men's Retreat had 64 AA men attending, these recording were made by one of these men on a small tape recorder, and the recording quality is pretty good considering that.

This series of talks was eventually transcribed into the book "A New Pair Of Glasses".

This has a bit of a hissing in the background, I have removed a good amount of it but had to leave some because removing it all distorted his voice, it ends abruptly during the Q&A.

Dewey S from San Mateo CA at the 12th Michigan state confrence, he is one of first 100 members of AA (sober in 1939) speaking in 1964, he was sober 25 years at the time of this speak. Great quality for a 1964 recording.

Sybil W-C giving a workshop in 1982 on Sponsorship, at the time of this workshop she had been sober 41 years and had the distinction of being the first female member of AA on the west coast. 

This is an older recording and I removed much of the noise, its a bit harsh but listenable.

There was another speaker and some Q&A at the end of this that I removed because of a number of homophobic comments made by the other speaker at the workshop, I delieted him entirely. The comments were not made by or echoed by Sybil, she is great but the other guy not so much.
