Sandy S is from Mountain View California, she opens this meeting by sharing her story for about 20 min, after Sandy we have Amy for the last 40 min, Amy is from Hollister California. They are speaking at a meeting called Friday Night Fever held sometime in 1992 at an unknown location.

I have something a little special today, this is the entire Friends In Recovery Roundup that was held in Durbin South Africa about a month ago (April 28-29 2023), this was an in-person and zoom event.
The roundup is presented here in the same order as it was there, featuring eleven speakers from all over the world. I have to admit a bit of bias here, Dante L, the chairperson of the group that hosted the event reached out to me months before it happened and told me the story of the group and I was routing for their success.
Bias aside they did a great job and I really think youll enjoy it, rather than break it up I am uploading it as one podcast. I also want to give a big "well done" to the folks that did the sound recording, impressive. Lastly, Dante kindly provided the description of the event below.
The theme for the Rally was "A Daily Reprieve" and our slogan was "FIRRR Real" (Friends in recovery Roundup Rally). This was the first in person event for FIR and all the speakers are home group members of FIR, we came together to celebrate our 3rd year of existence. The Group was born on zoom during Covid and a lot of the speakers got sober in FIR and on zoom.
Speakers spoke on ESH. What comes through in some of the shares is the support one receives from your homegroup and how FIR got some of the speakers started on their Recovery journey. We included Al-Anon speakers also.

I just added a couple of items to the event list. The Northwest Fellowship of the Spirit Conference in Stanwood Washington toward the end of August. The AA International going on in 2025 up in Vancouver BC, you cant register yet, but heads up if you are thinking of going and you have a DUI in your past, look into being able to get into Canada, follow the links on the event page for more info. I live close to border in Bellingham WA and know folks that have been refused entry, depending on your history getting cleared can be a slow process.

This two part workshop on Emotional Sobriety was led by Joe & Charlie (yes that Joe and Charlie) along with John W, it was held at the Wilson House in 1990. Today we have three speakers starting with Mark then Lelia, each of them sharing their stories for 10 min. Once they are done we move to Tom sharing for 30 min as the main speaker. This meeting is one of the Atlantic Group meetings and it was recorded sometime in 2007 In New York.

This panel meeting is a bit of AA history as well as a good speak from three excellent speakers. We have Polly P, Peter and then Lorna speaking on the topic of "The Language of the Heart" at the AA International Convention held in San Diego California in 1995.
I have a very tiny a personnel connection to this one, I was at this meeting and many years later lived in the same town as Polly and would run into her at meetings, but never put it together until I listened to this and thought... that sounds like Polly P. I had no idea she was one of the speakers I listened to that night.
If you have never been to one of AA's International Conventions I would suggest it if you possibly can, its an amazing experience. The next one is in Vancouver Canada... Ill see you there! July 3 - 6 2025.

We have two speakers today each sharing a little of their story, first we have Alex who got sober in 2006 as the opening 10 min speaker. Alex is followed by Rowbie who got sober in 1986, they are speaking at the North Oakland AA Open speaker meeting held every Saturday in Oakland California. This meeting is from 2001.

Next up we have Clarence for the remaining time doing a 30 min speak. Sandra was speaking in June of 2019 and Clarence was speaking in April of 2021 at the Sunday Night Speakers Meeting held in Seattle Washington.
