Marty M was from NY and she was one of the first female members of AA she is speaking at the Greenfield Hill Group in 1979. She became sober in April of 1939, she wrote the story “Women Suffer Too” which is included in the Big Book. Marty M was also the first lesbian member of Alcoholics Anonymous at a time when gay and lesbians were not accepted by society.
She also wrote a book called Marty M's New Primer on Alcoholism that is long out of print but I did find a few used 1962 copies Here a more updated 1981 version Here

This is part two of a two part workshop about the Big Book that has a ton of AA history also has a great message of hope and recovery. This was part of the The 50th Anniversary of the Big Book.
Ruth (one of the earliest female members of AA) opens this up talking about getting sober in the very early days of AA spending time with Bill W and how it felt like a secret society.
Bob S Jr (Dr. Bobs son) is the next speaker and he is a 20 year member of Al-anon, his wife has been sober for 19 years, he is an active Al-non member and very involved in service. He was there for the first meeting between Bill W and Dr Bob.

This was part of the The 50th Anniversary of the Big Book. Jim H is the first speaker, 93 years old at the time of the event and sober since 1934, he was a member of the Oxford group when Bill W arrived looking for a solution.
Searcy, 89 years old is up next, sober since 1946 and 53 years sober at the time of this event was the sponsor of Ebby T, the man Bill W always referred to as his sponsor. (Hear Ebby speak)
