Over the last five days I have uploaded a workshop led by Charlie P along with his wife Katie and Chris R, presenting a workshop on Taking a Newcomer Through the Steps. Before the event began each took about 40 min and told some of their story, this is that portion of the event, it runs just a bit over 2 hours.
This was recorded at the London Ontario Primary Purpose Group in Canada in 2014.

This is part three of a five part workshop led by Charlie P along with his wife Katie and also Chris R, they are presenting a workshop on Taking a Newcomer Through the Steps, from the perspective of doing it with a sense of urgency. They do some Q&A at the end of the session and the questions were impossible to hear, I have removed all the dead space and they do a very good job of repeating the question before answering.
This was recorded at the London Ontario Primary Purpose Group in Canada in 2014, someone had emailed me asking about a slightly later version of this workshop, that reminded me I had this on my list to use...so here it is.
The event itself is 8 recordings not 5, the first three are the speakers each telling their stories for about 40 min. I am going to combine those speaks into one episode and upload that the day after the actual workshop concludes, in reality the workshop opened with those.

I had an email from Megan yesterday asking if I had any recordings of her friend Hal who passed on this week, Hal was one of the men at the retreat that Chuck C led that became the book "A New Pair of Glasses".
Hal T got sober in 1973, he is telling his story, (he has a great sense of humor) in 2011 at the Ohio Street West Sunday meeting held in Los Angeles. NSFW

If you have never been to a Young Peoples event (your age does not matter) the energy and passion of the participants never fails to impress. Katie P got sober in 1984, she has spoken all over the world for many years, she is sharing on Steps 1-3 at the ABC Newcomers zoom meeting recorded just a couple of days ago in March of 2024.

This one needs a little context, I know many of you are familiar with the Joe & Charlie Big Book Workshops (I recently posted one 2.7.24) in 2005 at a J & C workshop Willie B and John W went through the 12 steps in the same manor as Joe and Charlie but using the 12 x 12 as the reference.
Both workshops were presented side by side over the same weekend providing an in-depth look at the steps from both the Big Book and the 12 x 12 at the Boca Raton Florida Big Book Weekend held in 2005.
Willie B of Spring Texas got sober in 1957, she was 48 years sober at the time of this presentation about steps 10, 11 and 12. This is the last speak of the 9 part series, I do have the other 8, if you are interested in hearing them please drop me an email.

Lyle P sober in 1990 is speaking on the topic: Together We Can Alone We Cant. He spends a good chunk of time telling his story, but if you havent heard his story its one well worth a listen. It is one of those storys that gets you thinking, you did what? This was recorded at the Magical Mystery Tour zoom meeting in January of 2022.

Chuck C was from from Laguna Beach California, he was 36 years sober at the time of this speak. Chuck was highly regarded as a speaker over the many years he was an active member of AA, he is also a pretty funny guy. This speak took place at an unknown meeting held in Houston Texas in June of 1982. It is an excellent quality recording. He one of my personal favorites.
Chuck is also credited as the author of the book "A New Pair of Glasses" in reality it is a transcript of a speak he gave at a mens retreat in 1975. Sadly the recording is pretty awful, a couple of years ago I attempted to reach Chuck's son to see if he would be willing to grant the rights to have it re-recorded and I was hoping he would be willing to do the recording (if you know who he is you can understand why). Unfortunately as hard as I tried I was never able to reach him, so on the slim chance any of you have his contact info please reach out.
If you want to give the book a read it is out of print but lots of copies are still floating around. It is not AA approved literature but its really excellent http://amzn.to/2FKdg9V
The "A New Pair of Glasses" audio is also available on Sober Cast but it was posted quite a while ago, if you have any issues finding it please just let me know and Ill repost it.
