ESH: Dr Paul O author of - Dr Alcoholic Addict

Dr. Paul O got sober in July of 1967 he authored the big book story - Dr Alcoholic Addict (re-titled Acceptance Was the Answer in the 4th edition). Dr Paul is telling his story at the Monterey Bay Roundup held in Monterey California in 1997. Dr Paul was a very popular circuit speaker from the 70s through the late 90s he passed away in May of 2000 at 83.

Bill W speaks about the creation of the Big Book

Bill W one of the co-founders of AA speaks about the Big Books history and creation. This consists of two seperate speaks, the first is at the 30th anniversary founders day in Akron. 

The second speak may be from the same event but there is no way to know, the introduction of Bill the 2nd time does mention the 30th anniversary.

Repost from Oct of 2018, most of the recordings of Bill W are pretty bad quality and these 2 speaks are some of the clearest around.

ESH: Norman Y (Sober 26 years)

Norman Y from Ashland Ohio was sober 26 years at the time of this speak, he got sober in 1939, he is speaking at an unknown meeting held in 1965. Great quality sound for that long ago (wish they were all this good).

AA History: The Opening Meeting of the 1995 International Conference of AA

This is the full opening ceremony and meeting of the 60th International AA conference held in San Diego in 1995. There was a lot of pomp and circumstance at the beginning of this recording (about 40 min worth). I think Im correct that the vast majority of you wont be interested in that. So I took the first 40 min of the event and moved it to the end of the recording so you go right into the speakers.

For those of you interested in hearing the sobriety countdown the procession and entrance of all the countries in attendance keep listening after the closing prayer, its all there. There were also a number of silent moments and I removed a good amount of that as well. The full attendance of the conference was 56,000.

A little footnote: I am being a little self indulgent with this one since I was at this meeting and it was truly remarkable sitting in the baseball stadium with 47,972 other AA members.

Al-Anon: Lois W. (Founder)

Lois W the founder of Al-Anon is speaking at an unknown event and at an unknown time. She tells a bit of Bills story and speaks of the founding of Al-Anon and of AA. This is a really good quality recording made as best I can narrow down sometime around 1982.

AA History: Dr Bob S - AA Founder (14 Years)

You AA history buffs will like this one, it is Dr Bob S one of the founders of AA speaking in 1949, he was 14 years sober at the time of this speak that took place somewhere in Ohio at an unknown event. He is telling the story of what happened in the early days of AA's formation. 

This recording was awful but cleaned up remarkably well, keep in mind however, it was recorded 72 years ago. This ends a bit abruptly.

ESH: Marty M the first woman in AA sober in 1939 speaking in 1969

Marty M is known as the first woman in AA, she was from New York NY and is speaking at the Southern Conference in 1968. She got sober in 1939 and was was 29 years sober at the time of this speak, she died in 1980.

I had to do a lot of processing on this one, I added a 2 second click track in the center where the tape must of been changed, but considering this was recorded in 1968 it is a remarkably good recording.
