Sybil C had been sober for 39 years at the time of this speak, she is from of Los Angeles and is speaking on the subject of How the Traditions Were Born, a topic she lived while working in the AA office in New York at the time of their creation.
Sybil got sober in 1941 after trying for 17 years, at her first meeting she was asked to wait out in the hall because it was a closed meeting and they thought she was one of the wives, not one of the drunks, she was also the first woman AA member on the East coast. I was a bit shocked at how well this cleaned up considering how it sounded on my first listen. Repost from mid 2022.

Grady OH tells her story at the Intergroup Speaker Meeting held in Fresno California sometime in 1979. Grady has long been one of those speakers I always enjoy and there are a few more speaks by her on the podcast if you would like to hear more from her. Really good quality recording for 1979. I have had a number of requests to repost the speaks that became the book "A New Pair of Glasses". I originally posted this series in 2017, after 2600 Sober Cast episodes I am a bit better at audio cleanup, so I have gone back through and reworked the files a bit to improve the quality. Part 6 of 6.
Chuck C. was born in 1902, and got sober in A.A. in January 1946.
In these 1975 recordings of Chuck C. at the Pala Mesa Men's Retreat, Chuck shares his experience, strength and hope about recovering from alcoholism. He tells how he recovered from being a "tongue-chewing, babbling idiot drunk".
The Pala Mesa Men's Retreat had 64 AA men attending, these recording were made by one of these men on a small tape recorder, and the recording quality isnt fantastic but it is listenable.
This series of talks was eventually transcribed into the book "A New Pair Of Glass" The book is still available if you would like a copy https://scast.us/npog
